DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
The Prouty Dressing Mirror is a quietly architectural statement piece that seamlessly merges sculptural asymmetry with refined daily utility. Defined by its clean geometric lines and a striking cantilevered crown, the piece subverts the traditional framed mirror archetype. The composition acts as a functional sculpture, bringing an uncompromised gallery-level elegance and physical permanence to dressing suites, entryways, and curated wall spaces.
MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
The frame is hand-fabricated from premium, select solid American walnut, with specialized attention given to grain continuity across the asymmetric joints. The upper horizontal beam extends into a bold, structural 14-inch cantilever, spanning a total width of 50 inches. Anchored into this floating timber plane is a custom-machined solid brass peg, serving as a minimal, intentional detail for hanging garments or essential accessories.
The walnut frame is brought to a smooth, rich luster using a hand-rubbed satin oil finish that accentuates the deep walnut tones and natural movement of the wood grain. High-grade distortion-free mirror glass is seamlessly set into the reverse, completing a process-heavy execution where master woodshop engineering meets functional art.
